Peg
When confronting a problem, Peg loves to organize. To plan. To write things down. She cant wait to get going, to conquer the problem!

Shes thrilled when shes making progress; breaks into song and plays her ukulele! But when it looks like she might not be able to solve the problem...she totally freaks out!

Luckily Peg has a foil on hand. Someone to slow her down when shes rushing. To calm her down when shes freaking. To mess things up so they dont get too neat! She has Cat.

Cat
The right brain to Pegs left brain, Cat approaches problems the exact opposite of the way Peg does. When trouble rears its head he yawns. Lies on his back. Has a snack. Wrestles with a twig. Makes up a silly song. Or curls up on the nearest ball and takes a nap!

Though Peg leads the problem-solving most of the way, at some points in each show she reaches a dead end. Thats when Cat does some apparently trivial thing – nibbles on pie, sings a ditty, or curls up into a shape that reminds her of something from earlier in the show – and this little thing he happens to do triggers a connection in Pegs mind that shows her the way to a solution!

In their lopsided, quirky way, this team of two totally works. Peg without Cat could never quite get there. But Peg + Cat = Total Triumph Every Time!

Ramone
Once in every episode, Ramone appears. He just happens to be where Peg and Cat are on the Farm, at the Circus, on the Pirate Island, even on the Purple Planet – providing a service or lending someone a hand. Ramone is always helping somebody out.

So he takes a moment out to help Peg and Cat! He points out a fact or equation, gives them a useful tip, supplies a key prop...

Then he gets back to work and moves on, leaving Peg and Cat in the thick of their problem, but a little further along, thanks to the very cool Ramone!

Pig
The Pig is a space cadet whos no help at all. He doesnt speak, but on the rare occasions when he has something to say he sings in a bellowing operatic tenor - usually about his love of all things triangular.

Richard
Richard is a sensitive young space alien from the Purple Planet. Hes younger than Peg, but she and Cat love to visit his planet because hes got the coolest hi-tech toys!

Richards a worrier; he worries how the play date is going; is everybody having a good time? Is everybody better at something than he is? He tends to cry over little things, and likes to know where his blanket is at all times -- though he insists he never needs it.

Richards obsessed with arranging things into patterns, and dreams of coming to earth to choreograph on a Broadway stage.
